January 2023 Meeting

The January meeting was held at Greenmount Station restaurant, home of the betPARX Sportsbook! It was one of the better attended meetings, with 23 businesspeople in attendance.

After a half-hour of casual networking, our new President, Candice Nicholson, opened the meeting and then all the guests got a chance to introduce themselves. Following the introductions, Chris Richards, the owner of Greenmount Station took the stage and gave a presentation about the new sportsbook and the changes at Greenmount.

When Chris finished, he took a number of great questions from the audience and turned the mic over to Major Dave Stem and Captain Mark Debord from the Carroll County Sherrif’s Office. The topic of their talk was crime in Carroll County. It was reassuring to learn that although crime is a big problem in the County, it is not drastically increasing. They also spoke about crime prevention, working with other counties to apprehend a group of thieves who came up into the area from Florida, and drug issues.

After their talk, Candice continued the meeting. Jessica Montz spoke briefly about the Kentucky Derby event in May and the Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and Social Media officers gave their reports. The meeting wrapped up with a discussion about this year’s membership dues and questions from the members.
